Clean Water
According to a report from Water.org, 1.4 million children die yearly from waterborne diseases. Children in sub saharan Africa being the most affected among other regions. Poor sanitation has been the cause to the rising number of deaths. Water For Me And You is a campaign designed to come up with solutions for provision of clean drinking water for children under the age of 5 years . This includes the use of technology and great ideas to provide small quantities of clean water using environment friendly techniques. Providing clean water in Africa has been a problem for long. Groups and organizations alone have failed to providing clean water in Africa, which has forced every individual to be on board. Providing Clean water in Africa can be a reality if we can be serious. By sharing my ideas about accessing clean water, I am satisfied to making this world a better place, hence helping in providing clean water in Africa.
The Horn Of Africa Ground Water For Resilience Project
The Horn of Africa- Groundwater for Resilience Project (HoAGW4R) is a World Bank funded project in collaboration with Cooperation in International Waters in Africa (CIWA), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Kenya’s Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation and State Agencies including WRA, WSTF and Regional Centre for Groundwater Resources, Education, Training and Research. The overarching objective of the project is to increase the sustainable access and management of groundwater in the Horn of Africa borderlands. The project focuses on interventions in aquifer systems with regional and transboundary implications in the Kenya ASAL areas and drought affected communities within the North and North Eastern Development Initiative (NEDI) counties namely; Turkana, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir and Garissa bordering Ethiopia and Somalia. The program will be implemented through four components and Water Resources Authority will be implementing some components.
Clean Water Kenya provides rural Maasai and Kamba Villages in the Great Rift Valley and northeast Kenya simple, easy-to-maintain Portable Water Filtration Systems that cleanse the local drinking water of the bacteria that causes typhoid, cholera, amoebic dysentery, salmonella, E.coli, botulism, giardia, cryptosporidium and other pathogens that are deadly to the Maasai and Kamba people.
